Santa Barbara

Zach and I spent the weekend in Santa Barbara to celebrate the end of Zach's 2nd year of law school. HALLE-FREAKIN'-LUJAH!!!!! I'm not sure why we don't go to Santa Barbara more often, b/c it's only an hour away from home and it's fantastic.

The weekend started out awesome despite the fact that the weather wasn't the best. When you live in Sunny California you expect it to be that way all the time. Anyhoo......the first thing we did when we arrived was do a whale watching tour. Neither of us had never seen a whale before and I can't even begin to describe how amazing it is.
This is us on the boat ride. It was ridiculously cold, and we could have enjoyed the ride from an enclosed section of the boat, but I refused.....

This was me pre-motion sickness. You will not see pictures me looking green after riding on the boat for 2 1/2 hours. Mind you.....I insisted that we ride on the front of the boat with the 8 yr olds, b/c it looked like soooo much fun.

We saw dolphins. I wish we had a better picture, but our camera is a little out-dated. They were soooo cute, b/c they were playing with the boat and swimming and jumping in front of it.

Here is our whale sighting. We actually saw two of them. Again....the pictures can't describe it b/c our camera is crap. I am dead set on buying a new camera now.

Right after we saw the whales I retreated to the cabin with an incredibly obese pre-adolescent that was also sick. He looked like he was going to explode. The whole ride back to land I was praying that this kid didn't blow chunks everywhere, b/c I knew I would loose it if he did. He must not have been too sick b/c I watched him devour an entire package of crackers. I was worried I would be seeing those crackers come back up, but he managed to hold it in - as did I.

After our boating adventure we were off to set-up camp. Here are a few pics from camp.

We set up this tent together! We are such a power couple! :) My back hurts today from sleeping on the ground. Thanks a lot you stupid tent.

We then rode our bikes all day the next day, b/c that's the whole reason we went!

On a more serious note: Zach, I am soooo proud of you for completing your second year of law school! BRAVO!!!!

Congrats to Zach. He must be weally weally smaht, as my kids say.

At least you weren't on your honeymoon cruise to Bermuda, getting stuck in the middle of the Atlantic in a giant 10 ft crashing waves storm, witnessing 1,000 fellow cruisemates blow chow all over the Aloha deck.

I might have had that happen to me. Maybe. And I might just steer clear of all things nautical because of it.

I actually had a very similar experience on our honeymoon cruise! It took me two days to actually start enjoying our honeymoon. Perhaps I should follow your example and stay away from the waters! :)
