After my conversation with Zach last week he had asked me to send him some supplies. I did my best to locate all of the supplies, but ended up having to ship them separately. On Monday I sent two different packages overnight. Fast forward to Thursday. No packages have arrived. The online tracking for my USPS package says they left notice, and the package has been sent to the local post office. If someone doesn't pick it up in 5 days then it will be returned to sender. Well crap! First, I made sure to sign the waiver saying it was okay to leave the package without the signature (so it should just be dropped off with all the other letters and whatnot). Second, Zach isn't going to just get in a car, drive to the post office, and pick up his package. It doesn't work like that. After spending (what seemed like) all day on the phone with USPS someone finally gets the lady at the Quantico post office on the phone with me. She was the BEST!!! Not exaggerating. She said, "Oh Honey! Don't you worry. I have all the mail here staged and ready to be delivered to the base. They've been shut down since last Friday. As soon as they open back up we'll be sure to get your package to him." I hope I get to meet this lady someday because she was seriously amazing!
The worst part about this whole thing is that Zach has gone without mail for an entire week. Plus, Lord knows what they are making him do in this terrible snow storm. I know they aren't curling up next to the fire with a good book!

Hey Jennifer. Don't worry about Zach. Bill says that they'll use the gym for PT and he assured me that they will not do anything that will put the guys at risk. Bill's OCS was the same time of year in Yorktown, which is just down the road a bit from Quantico. Congratulations on the little jellybean! I know that the entire family is very excited. Dianna has already asked me to bring all my baby knitting books up the next time we go to Wills Point, so you can bet this baby will have a great sweater wardrobe.
Thanks! I'll feel a lot better after I talk to him this weekend. Now that Di is snowed in I'm sure she'll have knitted a ton of clothes by the time all the snow melts!
Aw man! BOOOO!!! That means my hilarious letters are sitting waiting to be read!
Don't worry, Cara! They opened the base up today - hopefully Zach got a mountain of mail! He's even getting some Oreo cookies from me! Your letters and Oreos are the perfect end to a hard week!
